December 6, 2006:

Thanks to his generous donation to the Friends of the Golf Course campaign, the 1st hole at the University of Maryland Golf Course is now named the Colonel J. Logan Schutz hole.  Col. Schutz, the former executive director of the Maryland Alumni Association, played the first round of golf when the course opened in 1958, so it is appropriate that the 1st hole be named after him.

Colonel Schutz joined friends, family, and members of the University community to dedicate the hole on Wednesday, December 6.
